Phantom Photobombs: Ghosts Caught on Camera at Tourist Hotspots!

Starting with the hallowed halls of the haunted Winchester Mystery House in San Jose to the uncanny pyramid of Giza, the utterly rib-tickling collections of ghost ‘photobombs’ have escalated at tourist hotspots across the globe. Everyone loves puffing their chest about amassing Instagrammable holiday snaps, but imagine having an extraterrestrial photobomber!

This phenomenon began when Cleve*, a man on vacation from Kentucky, snapped a selfie with his hotdog at Coney Island, only to discover a ghastly white figure lurking on the screen behind him. Now, the ghost sightings are popping up in tourist snapshot after tourist snapshot like mushrooms after a rainstorm!

We’ve heard of ‘tourist traps’, but this is more of a ‘tourist trap…for phantoms’!

From Pisa’s leaning tower to Grand Canyon’s majestic views, these reduced-visibility ghouls have a thing for incredibly scenic spots. But it’s not limited to them! Bettie from Texas shrieked when she discovered she had an unexpected guest bobbing behind her in her photo from Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion ride. No, not Goofy. A transparent figure with eyes wide, staring directly into the camera!

We reached out to our sources in the spirit world (a trio of poltergeists, a banshee who wishes to remain anonymous, and the ghost of Elvis Presley), and they confirmed our suspicions. The wandering spirits, bored of their humdrum afterlife routines, have decided to entertain themselves by photobombing unexpected tourists.

The afterlife, apparently, can be incredibly dull with not much to do but wail at midnight or knock over cans in the pantry. But ghostly photobombing? Now that’s got these incorporeal entities buzzing more than a Ouija board at a sleepover!

Caspar from London, a semi-accomplished phantom in the 1500s, claims this newly emerging trend has “brought the life back into the afterlife”. He laughingly told us, in a stuttering static-filled voice over the radio, “We are sucking the marrow out of the afterlife’s skeletal routine, one photo bomb at a time”.

While some tourists have been thrilled by these spectral photo additions (Instagram Influencer @GlitterMama gushed – “Got a phantom in my photo at Taj Mahal! #YOLO #GHOSTIE #DEADCHIC”), others, well, not so much. Bill from Brooklyn lamented: “Went on a trip, not a ghost hunt. Now my Facebook feed is filled with spectral sidekicks. It spooked my grandmother!”

But hey, the trend doesn’t seem to be waning. The other side has recently announced their “Photobomb World Tour – Afterlife Edition”. Apparently, various representative spirits are all set to appear at the world’s top tourist sites: The Eiffel Tower, Statue of Liberty, the Louvre Museum – none are off-limits!

One more thing: the ghoulishly wicked sense of humor becomes evident when you inspect the spectral appearances more closely. The ghost at Mount Rushmore has taken the liberty of adding its face to the national monument, another posing next to Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio copied the statue’s signature pose!

So, supernatural enthusiasts, selfie addicts, and unsuspecting tourists, brace yourselves! The next time you’re on holiday and snapping that perfect picture, be ready for a spectral surprise guest. Enjoy the fun, bask in the eeriness, and relish the hilarity. The next time you hear a snap, it just might be accompanied by a phantom’s cackle!

Remember, these phantoms don’t intend to scare you out of your wits, it’s just their afterlife version of a holiday gag. So, leave the holy water at home and bring extra memory cards for photos. You can’t fabricate this type of fun, or can you? To the next phantom photobomb, say “Cheese!”
